Divers urged to be careful as long weekend boosts river traffic.

It is the August long weekend and it seems the summer has gone quickly. However, there are still lots of diving opportunities to enjoy. The boats are busy on the St. Lawrence River, but there are still spaces available on some boats. Call around to the operators if you are looking to get some diving in this weekend.

As for the weather, it is looking like a mixed bag with a potential for rain and even thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday. Fortunately, Sunday and Monday are shaping up to be nice sunny days for diving.

With the long weekend comes more traffic on the river. If you are diving remember to be safe and always carry an SMB (Surface Marker Buoy) in the event you have to surface away from your boat.

The Princess Promenade, which features local businesses out on Princess Street, is being held this weekend in Kingston. Shoppers can enjoy the evening shopping in Kingston. For those looking for a blast from the past, there will be a free Platinum Blonde concert in Market Square in Kingston.

As always, dive safely and enjoy the long weekend.
