The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation (BMOTIA) has announced the debut of the Bahamas Women’s Dive Week, a groundbreaking event set to take place July 18–22, 2025. In partnership with Caradonna Adventures, Stuart Cove’s Dive Bahamas, and other key members of the local dive industry, the event will align with the globally recognized PADI Women’s Dive Day to position The Bahamas as a premier destination for women divers while empowering the next generation of ocean advocates.
The four-night, all-inclusive event—hosted at Breezes Bahamas—will feature three thrilling days of world-class divingaround Nassau and Paradise Island. Highlights include wall dives, vibrant reefs, legendary shipwrecks, and an unforgettable 2-tank shark dive. Divers will also visit iconic underwater filming locations featured in Thunderball and Into the Blue.
Participants will benefit from the expertise of Alannah Vellacott, a Bahamian ecologist, PADI divemaster, and ocean advocate, alongside Gabby Shepard, a global dive influencer and founder of Black Girl Blue World, an organization promoting diversity and inclusion in scuba diving.
“This event is a powerful reflection of our national commitment to adventure tourism and female empowerment,” said Latia Duncombe, Director General of Tourism. “We are proud to spotlight the women leading in marine conservation and underwater exploration while showcasing the beauty and biodiversity of The Bahamas.”
In addition to diving, the program includes evening social gatherings, cultural immersion experiences, and authentic Bahamian cuisine, giving participants the chance to connect with the island’s rich heritage.
A key goal of the initiative is to engage young Bahamian women and girls through introductory resort dive courses offered across the islands. These programs aim to inspire future careers in marine science, ecotourism, and environmental stewardship—creating a sustainable and inclusive future for diving in The Bahamas.
PADI Women’s Dive Day, recognized as the largest day of diving worldwide, continues to break barriers by welcoming more women into the sport. The Bahamas Women’s Dive Week is expected to build on this momentum by combining world-class underwater experiences with impactful community outreach and education.
