To experience sea life underwater, up close, is beyond anything anyone can understand until they do it for themselves. To be that close to a shark or a ray or a whole school of fish passing you by is breath taking and at the National Marine Aquarium you can have that experience by submerging into a tank.

Sam Stimpson took to the Atlantic Ocean exhibit this week to snorkel under the guidance of one of the aquariums specialists. With his daughter, Samphire in tow they arrived in the coastal city to explore and to try out the snorkel. Donning a wetsuit and snorkel, he slipped into the tank in a safe and secure pen floating above the tank and all of its residents.
Before the snorkel, staff gave Sam a tour of the aquarium, introducing some of the most incredible marine creatures from seahorses and razor fish to bat and lion fish. Explaining why certain fish are so special and why their environments in the wild are threatened.

The surreal interaction that you get here in Plymouth is a once in a lifetime. If you have never dived or snorkelled in the wild this experience would blow your mind and show you what’s down there, what many of us are keen to protect.
In the words of Cousteau, ‘We must go and see it for ourselves.’
Get down to Plymouth and see for yourself.
