Steve Lewis worked as an advertising copywriter, journalist and feature writer for many years, but is best known for his work underwater. He is a cave diver/instructor, deep wreck diver/instructor, and marketing and training consultant for the dive industry. He lives in rural Ontario but admits “I get to travel to some pretty exotic places to lecture, teach, dive and explore.”

The Diving Almanac is the only compilation of such diverse and far-ranging information on the world diving community. It is meant to showcase the accomplishments of underwater explorers, scientists, engineers, freedivers and adventurers since Man first plunged into the sea more than six millennia ago.

For purists, there is nothing like a wooden boat. It handles the waves well. It is beautiful and displays the talents of its builder. Today, they are seen mainly at events showcasing historical vessels. Wooden boats require regular maintenance, so the rise of fibreglass and aluminum boats in the mid-20th century ended their popularity.
