One house reef. Ten entry points. More than 60 dive sites. And some of the Maldives’ most sought-after marine life.

From 15 November 2026, Vilamendhoo Island Resort & Spa reopens its doors, bringing divers back to the spectacular underwater world of South Ari Atoll.

For those who come to the Maldives to dive, Vilamendhoo offers an exceptional combination of accessibility, variety and world-class diving. Whether you are making your first dives, travelling with a family of mixed experience levels or looking for your next big underwater encounter, the diving here is designed to suit every level.

One House Reef. Ten Ways to Explore.

At the heart of the experience is Vilamendhoo’s impressive house reef, with 10 entry points and daily access from 06:00 to 20:00.

It is an especially convenient option for beginners and those completing their dive training. Rather than relying on a boat for every dive, new divers can learn and build confidence in the house reef before progressing to the wider range of sites around the atoll.

For experienced divers, the flexibility is just as appealing. Choose your entry point, decide when you want to dive and explore the reef at your own pace — from an early-morning descent to an afternoon dive or a completely different world after dark.

The setup is simple: prepare your equipment at the dive centre, head to your chosen entry point, and after your dive, leave your tank at the designated point for the Euro-Divers team to pick up. Leaving you free to enjoy the rest of your day.

More Than 60 Dive Sites Within Reach

When you are ready to venture further, more than 60 dive sites are accessible from Vilamendhoo.

South Ari Atoll is renowned for its encounters with whale sharks and manta rays, offering divers year-round opportunities to experience two of the ocean’s most iconic giants.

The famous Dhigurah Channel is another highlight, with celebrated sites such as Kuda Rah Thila, Huddu Thila and 7th Heaven among the many dive sites waiting to be explored.

With thilas, channels, reefs and pelagic encounters all within reach, the variety means there is always another dive site to discover.

A Diving Schedule That Fits Your Holiday

There is no single way to dive at Vilamendhoo. The daily programme offers different options to suit experience levels, interests and holiday schedules, including:

    • 2-tank early morning trips
    • 2-tank morning trips
    • Single afternoon dives
    • Full-day diving trips
    • Night dives

Whether you want to fill your holiday with diving or simply fit in a few memorable dives between other island experiences, there is an option to suit your pace.

And with a multilingual Euro-Divers team on hand, divers from around the world can feel at home both above and below the surface.

    More Than Diving

Vilamendhoo isn’t only for divers. Non-divers can explore the house reef by snorkelling directly from the island, or join resort excursions for experiences such as manta ray and whale shark snorkelling and night snorkelling on the house reef.

While diving may be at the heart of Vilamendhoo, there is plenty to enjoy between dives. The resort offers adult-only areas for guests looking for a more peaceful escape, while the award-winning Duniye Spa provides a relaxing way to unwind after a day in the water.

For those who prefer to stay on the surface, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the lagoon. Take it easy with a glass-bottom kayak, catamaran sailing, windsurfing or stand-up paddling, or turn up the excitement with jet skis, fun tubes and other towing activities.

Located around a 20-minute scenic seaplane journey from Velana International Airport, Vilamendhoo combines easy access with the feeling of a true island escape — an ideal base for exploring South Ari Atoll above and below the surface.
