Shearwater Research has announced the launch of the Limited Edition Tern TX, a special version of its compact dive computer that combines exclusive styling with support for marine conservation projects around the world.
The release introduces two exclusive colourways – blue and purple -with just 750 units of each colour being produced worldwide. While the internal hardware remains unchanged from the standard Tern TX, the limited edition features a custom stainless steel bezel and matching quick-release silicone strap inspired by the colours of a recovering coral reef.
Unlike many limited-edition products that focus solely on appearance, Shearwater says every Limited Edition Tern TX sold will directly support three organisations working to restore and protect marine ecosystems.
The beneficiaries are:
- Reef Renewal USA, which supports coral restoration programmes and public education initiatives in Florida.
- Żibel, a Malta-based environmental organisation tackling marine pollution through clean-ups, education and community engagement.
- Ocean Gardener, an Indonesian organisation that has helped restore reefs through community-based coral nurseries, contributing to the planting of more than one million corals.
“Divers share a deep connection with the ocean. It’s what draws us in, inspires exploration, and keeps us coming back,” said Allison Brownlie, Shearwater’s Global Brand Marketing Manager.
“The Limited Edition Tern TX reflects that connection, pairing a powerful and reliable dive computer with a meaningful way to contribute to the underwater world we love.“
The Limited Edition model retains all of the capabilities of the standard Tern TX, including:
- High-resolution AMOLED display
- Wireless air integration
- Digital compass
- Wireless rechargeable battery
- Remora quick-release strap system
- Customisable watch faces and display colours
Originally introduced in 2024, the Tern TX is Shearwater’s most compact dive computer and is aimed at recreational divers seeking advanced features such as air integration and navigation in a watch-sized design.
The Limited Edition version is intended as a collector’s release rather than a new-generation computer, offering divers an opportunity to own one of only 1,500 units produced globally while contributing to ocean conservation through their purchase.
