While recovering debris from a collapsed oil platform, commercial diver Jeffrey is unexpectedly ordered to cut himself free from the descent line and remain suspended beneath the surface. Moments later, a misunderstanding on deck triggers a terrifying ascent, sending Jeffrey rapidly upward hundreds of feet before he can stop it. The sudden pressure change leaves him suffering a devastating decompression injury, and he is rushed into a recompression chamber, where he faces an agonizing battle through what would become the longest and most painful hours of his life.
