Rork Media, good friends of The Scuba News Team and the powerhouse behind international dive media brands such as Scuba Diver Magazine, Divernet.com, and the GO Diving Show, has officially acquired the California Diving News and the highly regarded Scuba Show held annually in Long Beach, California.
For nearly four decades, the Scuba Show has served as a cornerstone of the American diving industry, drawing thousands of enthusiasts, professionals, and exhibitors together each year. Now under the Rork Media umbrella, the event becomes part of a growing international lineup that includes the GO Diving Show UK and the recently launched GO Diving Show ANZ in Australia.
Collectively, these events now attract over 25,000 attendees and host more than 500 exhibitors globally, reinforcing Rork Media’s role in connecting dive communities across continents.
With the acquisition, California Diving News will be restructured to align with Rork Media’s broader publishing strategy, while retaining its unique focus on the West Coast dive scene and the wider U.S. market. Meanwhile, Scuba Diver North America will benefit from access to CDN‘s established distribution channels and subscriber base, enabling Rork to implement a dual-tier advertising approach.
Ross Arnold, Publishing Director at Rork Media, expressed enthusiasm about the deal:
“We’re excited to bring Mark Young on board as part of this transition. He’s been instrumental in making the Scuba Showa premier diving event in the United States, and we’re eager to build on that foundation.”
Mark Evans, Rork Media’s Editorial Director, added:
“When Mark Young first approached us about the future of the Scuba Show, we were honored to be considered potential stewards of such a respected event. As the show prepares to mark its 38th year in 2025, we’re committed to working together to take it to the next level.”
Mark Young, founder of the Scuba Show and California Diving News, shared his perspective on the handover:
“After more than three decades in the diving media industry, it was important to me to find a team I could trust with the legacy of these brands. Rork Media’s international vision and commitment to growing value for the industry made them the clear choice. I’m excited to support them as they usher in the next chapter for Scuba Show and California Diving News.”
This acquisition marks a significant step in Rork Media’s expansion strategy, reinforcing its presence in North America and solidifying its position as a global leader in scuba diving media and events.
