    Boston Sea Rovers Film Festival – Meet the Speakers

    The highlight of each annual Boston Sea Rovers Clinic is the Saturday Evening Film Festival, a premier event that has set the standard for underwater exploration and storytelling. For decades, the Sea Rovers have led the way in showcasing groundbreaking presentations from some of the most influential figures in the diving world.

    Doors open at 7:30 PM, with the show beginning promptly at 8:00 PM.

    Below, you’ll find our current speaker lineup and the list will be updated as more speakers are confirmed.

    Jennifer Sellitti

    Jennifer N. Sellitti

    Jennifer N. Sellitti is a lawyer and a shipwreck hunter. A criminal defense attorney by profession, she and her partner, Joe Mazraani, spend their spare time operating D/V Tenacious, a vessel that locates, dives, and salvages artifacts from shipwrecks in the North Atlantic. Jennifer is a US Coast Guard–licensed ship captain and a certified diver. She was part of the crew that discovered the wreckage of the 1855 passenger steamship Le Lyonnais, the WWI casualty West Point, the bow of M/S Stockholm, and other shipwrecks. She has served as surface support for expeditions to RMS Lusitania, SS Andrea Doria, and Titanic’s sister ship, HMHS Britannic. Jennifer is an associate member of Boston Sea Rovers and passionate about educating people of all ages about maritime history. 

    Cristian Dimitrius

    Cristian Dimitrius

    Cristian Dimitrius is an Emmy Award Winning cinematographer, multi-task cameraman (top side and underwater), experienced drone pilot and television presenter specializing in wildlife and natural history. In addition to several film credits including IMAX films, Cristian has shot and produced for the world’s top television networks including the BBC, National Geographic, Discovery Channel, History Channel, Arte, Animal Planet, Smithsonian, NHK and many others. With a large experience in the Brazilian Biomes, specially Amazon, Pantanal and the coastline, he is the right man to help you to get that stunning image of your landmark series or any production working in Brazil. Due to its versatility and adaptation to different natural environments, Cristian has the ideal profile to get a better and more complete result in a shorter time. His cinematography has been acclaimed all over the world.

    Hergen Spalink

    Hergen Spalink

    Hergen Spalink is a noted underwater photographer who lives and works at the forefront of underwater imaging, using the latest gear provided by industry-leading equipment manufacturer Nauticam. Since 2010, Hergen and his partner Kerri Bingham have been leading exclusive underwater photography safaris and workshops in the world’s best dive destinations, where guests benefit from the couple’s deep passion for the underwater world and twelve years of experience managing dive businesses in Indonesia and the Caribbean. Hergen is also the co-author of the Underwater Photography Series, along with Photoshop guru Deke McClelland, at Lynda.com. Hergen is both a PADI-certified scuba diving instructor and an Adobe Certified Expert in Lightroom.  Hergen is dedicated to making underwater imaging accessible and gratifying to divers and non-divers alike, through comprehensive instruction and creative inspiration.

    Nancy McGee

    Nancy McGee

    Nancy McGee is a celebrated underwater explorer, filmmaker, and adventurer with over three decades of experience. A member of the Women Divers Hall of Fame and an Explorers Club Fellow, Nancy has piloted the Exosuit, scuba dived on all seven continents, and captured rare footage of extraordinary marine encounters, including snorkeling with whales, crocodiles, and diving with an elephant. Known for blending scientific exploration with storytelling, her work promotes ocean conservation and has been featured in numerous documentaries, publications and exhibitions. Nancy continues to inspire others to explore and protect our planet’s most remote and fragile aquatic environments.

    Eric Cheng

    Eric Cheng

    Eric Cheng is an award-winning photographer, creative technologist, producer, cellist, and author. He works at Meta Reality Labs as Director of Immersive Media. A hands-on executive producer, domain leader, and pioneer of cutting-edge production techniques, Eric has supported and produced numerous immersive media projects for VR, including 8 Emmy-nominated films and experiences.

    Eric straddles his passions for storytelling, entrepreneurship, technology and communication. Before returning to the tech industry, Eric was a widely-published professional photographer and CEO of Wetpixel, the leading underwater-photography community. Eric is featured in 2 episodes of the Netflix series, Tales by Light, (Season 2), which showcase his underwater work with big animals. He has led dozens of photography expeditions and workshops around the world, and has given seminars and lectures internationally at events including TEDx, EG, TTI/Vanguard, the Churchill Club, DEFCON, NASA UTM, Photoshelter Luminance, Photographers@Google, CES, NAB, SXSW, AsiaD, Creative Mornings, Tested.com’s Live Show, Oculus Connect, ICCCP, DEMA, and others.

    Previously, Eric was Director of Aerial Imaging at DJI and Director of Photography at Lytro. Eric also served on the Board of Advisers of Wirecutter, and is a Field Associate at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, California.

    Eric also has a passion for ocean conservation, and served on the Board of Directors of Shark Savers (now part of WildAid) and the Board of Advisors of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. He was head photographer for Operation Musashi, Sea Shepherd’s 2008-2009 anti-whaling campaign in Antarctica, which was featured in season 2 of the TV show, Whale Wars.

    In October 2015, Peachpit published Eric’s first book, Aerial Photography and Videography Using Drones.

    Eric holds BS and MS degrees in computer science from Stanford University, where he also studied classical cello performance. He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and two sons.

    Rose Dalrymple

    Rose Dalrymple

    Rose Dalrymple is an emerging filmmaker and artist hailing from the kelp forests of California. With a background in marine research, she developed a passion for science communication and storytelling which led her to pursue a career in media.
