5 of the best places to stay on Bali

One of the great things about accommodation on Bali is the variety and range to suit every single budget. From the luxury of The Mandapa A Ritz Carlton in Ubud, to your own private villa in Canggu or Amed, Arvina Villas in Seminyak to a humble homestay that ticks all the boxes. Some things are certain, you will still get the same warm welcome from every Balinese host, a comfy bed to give you pleasant dreams whilst staying on The Island of The Gods. The scent of Frangiapani and sweet sound of Gamelan will never be far. You are home…

Komaneka at Bisma, Ubud.

The Komneka group of hotels stand out on so many levels. Their approach and their moto “The Soul of Bali in the Heart of Ubud” resonates in every little detail of this luxury resort. The selection of private villas leave nothing lacking. The Bisma Suites are not to be frowned upon, everything Is still on the upper end of imaginable luxury. The staff are warm, friendly and consummate professionals.  The culinary delights on offer are par excellence, start your day with a sumptuous breakfast over-looking rice paddies with the backdrop of the Monkey Forest.  The complex has so much more to offer, relaxing by the pool, pampering in the spa or just walk 10 minutes into the heart of Ubud. A standard Bisma suite is approx. £64 / $90 per night at the time of writing this and One Bedroom Pool Villa £115/$160 per night.

Villa Disana , Amed.

I cannot rate this accommodation highly enough. I spent most of time in March in Bali here. Literally on the beach. 4 self contained large bedrooms surround a large pool overlooking the ocean. To the side a large dining area with a superb fitted kitchen.  The standout feature of the villa however is the staff. Kadek and his team ensure VIP treatment from the minute you arrive till that last minute when you have to leave. Believe me waking up in a huge bed overlooking the Amed shoreline, listening to the waves gentle kiss the pebbled shore is some of the best therapy I have had in a very long time (that and Diving of course).  Floating in the pool at night with some soft background music looking up at the Milky way I cannot recommend enough. The Villa is withing walking distance of some good diving schools and dive sites. Or you can dive from the beach in front of the villa if you arrange it with your dive shop.

Arvina Villas, Seminyak.

This is my go to place when staying in Seminyak. Quite enough to relax and cater for yourself and close enough to the hustle and bustle of Seminyak. There are 5 self contained Villas with a very nice communal pool. The staff are fantastic, everywhere is kept pristine , each villa is serviced daily. Really good WIFI , great Airconand a fully loaded kitchen. You can cook for yourself or nip to the top of the road and within 5 minutes you are at Kreme Seminyak , cracking spot for a coffee and great food. Very reasonable rates, make contact with Syarif direct for current prices. In all the years I have stayed here I have never been disappointed.

Business Recovery Specialist turned scuba nut. Been visiting Bali since 2006. Visited Gili Trawangan in 2014 to do my open water course(SSI) with Manta Dive Gili Trawangan. After getting stuck on Bali at the start of the lockdown in April 2020, two things happened, firstly my local Balinese friends rallied round to make sure I was safe, fed and watered, and secondly when I got back to the UK I had left my heart behind me in Bali. Cliche I know, but after all the years of visiting Bali it just got progressively worse each time. Over the course of the summer of 2020I came up with the Dive Now Work Later concept. The purpose(still in development) is to help novice divers and people that want to learn to dive come to Bali , informed with everything in place having made informed choices about who to dive with, where to stay and how to get there from the airport.Stress and Hassle free. Living and working in Bali now since 2021.
