Brockville, Ontario Diving Conditions – 19th Aug – 21st Aug 2016

The Scuba News Canada will be featuring a weekly update from Matthew Lerpiniere on the diving conditions at Brockville, Ontario. Here is what is in store for August 19th– August 21st.

This weekend is looking not too bad for divers. There are chances of rain and thunderstorms through the weekend, but the weather looks mainly sunny at this point. The temperatures have come down a bit, making it a little nicer to be out in the sun. The water is warm and visibility is not bad, although typically for this time of year it has gone down a bit. All the operators will be running this weekend along the river, so if you are looking to dive call them and see if there is room on the boats. Many of the boats are not completely full, and spaces for one or two divers may still be available.

On shore this weekend in the Thousand Islands region will be very busy. In Kingston, the Tragically Hip will be play their last concert, finishing their final tour in their home town. Kingston is preparing for the concert as well as several live showings of the concert in various places around the city, including in the downtown square. There are numerous street closures in the downtown area. As many as 20,000 people are expected in the downtown to bid farewell to this iconic Canadian band.

Also in Kingston on Saturday, is the Urban Water slide that will be set up at Fort Henry. It is expected to draw a large crowd, too.

In Brockville there will also be public showings of the Tragically Hip concert in some of the parks around town, and again crowds are expected to be out in the streets to celebrate and bid farewell. The Canadian Navy ship Halifax will be visiting Brockville on Saturday.

The Poker Run is taking place this weekend on the river. This means that diving at Centeen Park will not be allowed. As well, shore diving is to be done with caution along the river as several boats will be in and out of shore areas as they complete the run.

Enjoy your weekend, have fun, dive safe, and if you get a chance come out to one of the open air showings of the Tragically Hip concert and celebrate with everyone.
