Coming December 1st, Shearwater Research is set to release a major upgrade for divers worldwide: the Swift GPS transmitter, designed to bring surface GPS tracking to any compatible Shearwater air-integrated dive computer.
Rather than limiting GPS functionality to a single new device, Shearwater has taken a more inclusive approach, offering existing users the ability to record and log their dive entry and exit points through the new Swift GPS. This innovation allows thousands of divers already using Shearwater computers to enhance their logs with precise surface locations.
The Swift GPS will debut alongside an upgraded mobile app, Dive Shearwater, featuring an interactive mapping experience for every dive. The new app will automatically pair GPS coordinates with dive logs, creating an intuitive record of each underwater adventure.
Compatible computers include the Peregrine TX, Tern TX, Perdix 2, Perdix AI, Petrel 3, and NERD 2. To enable Swift GPS functionality, users must first update their computer’s firmware via the Dive Shearwater app.
With this release, Shearwater continues its tradition of empowering divers through smart, upgradeable technology offering innovation not just to new customers, but to the loyal community that has trusted their computers for years.
