Saltwater Brewery became the pioneer in adopting and implementing the globally recognized Eco Six Pack Rings (E6PR). These innovative rings are the first environmentally friendly alternative to traditional plastic six-pack holders. Made from by-product waste and biodegradable materials, E6PR offers a sustainable solution aimed at reducing the environmental harm caused by plastic pollution. These are safe for animals to consume. Made from wheat and barley remnants left over from the brewing process, the material breaks down naturally and poses no harm to wildlife that might encounter or ingest it.
Saltwater Brewery maintains a strong commitment to sustainability and environmental care.
Canada has taken a new approach to addressing plastic waste by phasing out the use of six-pack plastic rings. Shoppers can now find beverage multi-packs packaged in cardboard, reflecting the country’s broader effort to reduce harmful single-use plastics. The federal ban, which began rolling out in December 2022, targets a range of commonly used plastic items—including checkout bags, plastic cutlery, and ring carriers. The objective is to significantly cut down plastic pollution and encourage the shift to environmentally friendly materials that can be recycled or composted. The transition is expected to be fully implemented by the end of 2025, prompting businesses to adopt more sustainable packaging solutions.
