A swimming area in Florida has been temporarily closed following two incidents where individuals were bitten on the head by an alligator, as reported by a local news outlet.

A professional trapper, who spoke to WCJB, successfully captured a nine-foot alligator from the waters of the Alexander Springs Recreation Area located within the Ocala National Forest this past Sunday.

Both of the bite victims were scuba divers, with one being attacked on Wednesday and the other on Sunday. The area had previously experienced a temporary closure on Wednesday but was subsequently reopened. However, in response to the recent alligator-related incidents, it has now been closed again “until further notice,” according to WCJB.

The U.S. Forest Service announced the necessity for this temporary closure on Wednesday, emphasizing that it was a measure taken for public safety. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission promptly conducted an investigation and responded to the situation.
