The individual who passed away in a lake on Friday has been identified as Justin James Cyril Swan, a 31-year-old from Alberta, Canada, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office.

The exact cause of Swan’s death is currently under investigation. The incident occurred at Pike Lake in Canosia Township on Friday morning while he was scuba diving with a companion. According to the news release from the sheriff’s office, Swan requested assistance in getting up on the dock but tragically disappeared beneath the water’s surface.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene promptly at 10:23 a.m. Although his diving partner managed to pull him out of the water, their attempts to revive him were not successful.
Swan was pronounced deceased at the location of the incident. Further details will likely be released as the investigation progresses.
