These incredible videos, according to John, were our best Ocean Safari trips ever the other day.
Engines turned off, free floating, and an entirely natural meeting with these incredible marine mammals. Although these films are only a few minutes long, this encounter lasted about 45 minutes before we had to depart due to time constraints. And, as is often on trips like this, they did breaches when we departed. Goodbye with a wave!
Simply said, Newfoundland and Labrador is one of the best places in the world to go whale watching. With 22 species of whales to witness, including minke, sperm, pothead, blue, orca, and the world’s largest population of humpbacks, and a variety of ways to observe them, these ocean giants are guaranteed to awe, fascinate, and inspire you. Whale viewing is best in Newfoundland from mid-May to September, with the peak season falling between mid-July and mid-August.
