Aqua Lung BCD Recall – SureLock™ Weight Pocket Handles

Aqua Lung are recalling their buoyancy compensators with SureLock II weight pocket handles. The rubber handles can detach as divers are trying to remove the weight pockets to rise to the surface in an emergency.

The SureLock II mechanical weight release system is found on most Aqua Lung buoyancy compensators (BCs) beginning in 2009, including the Axiom, Axiom i3, Balance, Black Diamond, Dimension, Libra, Lotus, Pearl, Pearl i3, Pro LT, Pro QD, Pro QDi3 and Zuma buoyancy compensators. Aqua Lung has made a revision to the handle assembly that strengthens it. You can recognise a revised handle by a thickened band of rubber at the base of the handle, as shown in the picture.

Divers should immediately stop using their BCs with Sure Lock II weight pockets. Take the pockets to your nearest authorised Aqua Lung Dive Retailer or Dive Centre. They will be able to replace your handles for you while you wait, as changing handles is a quick process. The replacement is made under warranty and you will not incur any charges.

For more information go to http://www.aqualung.com/ and click the Recall Notice.
