Southern Cross Club Earns 2013 Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence

Southern Cross Club The Southern Cross Club, Little Cayman’s original dive and fish resort, has earned TripAdvisor’s 2013 Certificate of Excellence, recognition awarded by the number of positive guest comments posted on the widely-read travel website. The resort also received the recognition in 2012. TripAdvisor® is used by millions of visitors to review resorts, restaurants, watersports operators, service providers and other tourism-related businesses around the world. Only about 10 percent of them receive this prestigious award because to qualify for the Certificate of Excellence, businesses must maintain an overall rating of four or higher, out of a possible five, as reviewed by travelers.

The Southern Cross Club was exactly what first time visitor and newlywed “flippermiller” and hergroom were looking for. “We were looking for small, safe, and relaxed, and that’s exactly what we found. We will cherish this week forever…the perfect honeymoon!” she posted on May 19, 2013.

Seasoned traveler “Chaz18551”, who wrote that he has visited many dive destinations across the world and never visited a place twice, wrote a review on June 1. “In May this year we broke with tradition and once again visited the Southern Cross Club and are glad we did as it was the equal of our first trip, if not better. Many establishments strive to make their guests feel at home but there is something magical about the formula that makes SCC what it is. Would we go a third time? Yes most certainly!”

On May 27 “Stephanie S” wrote: “We just returned from a magical 6 day stay at the Southern Cross Club to celebrate our 18th Anniversary. We are frequent visitors and this vacation exceeded our expectations.”

Tripadvisor officials say the Certificate of Excellence award gives highly rated establishments around the world the recognition they deserve say, and they want to applaud businesses like the Southern Cross Club for offering travelers a great customer experience. With today’s communication technology, the website enables travelers to quickly share their experiences and discoveries with friends and fellow travelers around the world. General Manager Jennifer Mills says these reviews are a good indication that the resort is maintaining a high level of customer service and this is a true credit to the resort staff who do a phenomenal job of making Southern Cross Club guests feel welcomed, giving them a reason to come back.

“We have returned here every year for the past 13 years…quite simply they have the best diving and resort setting in the world,” posted repeat guest “Kay P” on June 3.

“The Southern Cross Club is a diamond in the Caribbean that we hope to return to over and over again,” added “Dale C”.

“To receive this prestigious award two times in a row is an honour; to know that we received it because our guests have taken the time to write such positive reviews, makes the award very special indeed,” said Mills. “This is what we strive for at the Southern Cross Club.”

Resort Manager Neil van Niekerk agrees and credits owner Peter Hillenbrand with creating a casual and friendly atmosphere where everyone is on a first name basis and customer service is a priority. This builds a base of loyal guests who keep coming back year after year.

“Our guests are more than guests – they are our friends,” says Hillenbrand.

That’s exactly how newlywed “flippermiller” felt when she wrote in her review, “Thank you again, you treated us like we were your friends.”
