Scuba Schools International (SSI) has launched a substantially redesigned version of its MySSI app, bringing a new interface, artificial intelligence tools and an enhanced dive logging experience to one of the organisation’s central digital platforms.
The redesigned app is intended to make it easier for divers to access their certifications, training materials, dive history and SSI services, while placing greater emphasis on the individual diver and their experience underwater.
SSI describes the new version as a significant evolution of MySSI, with a modernised interface designed to make navigation faster and more intuitive.
The update is now available to users, with SSI encouraging divers to download or update the app.
A new approach to MySSI
MySSI has developed beyond being simply a digital certification and logbook application.
SSI’s current platform brings together digital certification cards, training materials, dive logging, wildlife records, buddy connections, Training Center information, events and other services. The app supports recreational scuba, freediving, extended range and rebreather diving.
The latest redesign puts the diver’s personal information and diving history more prominently at the centre of the experience.
SSI is also positioning the app as an “underwater resume”, allowing divers to showcase their diving achievements and history.
The organisation says the new personal area gives users a more complete overview of their diving journey, including achievements and other information that can be shared with others. SSI has promoted the redesigned app as a place where divers can keep their underwater experience together in one digital profile.
Meet the Dive Wizard
One of the headline additions is the enhanced Dive Wizard, designed to make recording dives faster by reducing the amount of information that has to be entered manually.
The current SSI app listing describes the Dive Wizard as a tool for quick, minimum-data dive logging. The app also supports voice-based logging, giving divers another way to record information.
That development builds on the existing MySSI digital logbook, which already allows divers to record scuba, freediving, extended range and rebreather dives.
SSI’s platform can incorporate dive data from compatible dive computers, while divers can also add information manually. The system can record details including dive site information, wildlife encounters, equipment and buddy information.
For divers who regularly record their dives, reducing the time required to create a log could be one of the most practical changes in the new application.
AI-powered navigation
Artificial intelligence is another major element of the redesign.
The updated MySSI app includes an AI assistant designed to help users find information and navigate the application more easily. The App Store description identifies the feature as an AI assistant and AI navigation tool, while SSI’s own promotional material highlights AI-driven tools as a central part of the new experience.
Rather than requiring users to search through different areas of the application to find a particular function, SSI is positioning the AI functionality as a more natural way to interact with the platform.
This is part of a broader move across the diving industry towards increasingly digital tools that can bring training, certification, dive history and travel information together within a single ecosystem.
A more powerful digital logbook
The digital logbook remains one of the most important components of MySSI.
SSI currently says the platform provides access to more than 65,000 dive sites and supports detailed records covering scuba, extended range, rebreather and freediving sessions. Divers can record GPS information, wildlife sightings, buddies and other details, while QR codes can be used to share or verify dives.
The app has also expanded its compatibility with dive computers and digital logging systems.
SSI recently introduced integration with SCUBAPRO LogTRAK, allowing compatible SCUBAPRO dive computer records to be transferred into the MySSI digital logbook. SSI says imported information can include dive time, maximum and average depth, water temperature and tank pressure, reducing the need for manual data entry.
The current app listing also identifies support for a range of Mares computers and other dive computer platforms, with SCUBAPRO supported through LogTRAK.
More than a logbook
The redesigned app continues SSI’s strategy of making MySSI a broader digital hub for its diving community.
The platform provides access to digital certification cards and registered training materials, including offline access, while users can also discover SSI Training Centers, courses and events.
SSI also uses the platform to connect divers with its wider network and destination resources.
The current SSI website describes MySSI as a one-stop application covering scuba, freediving, extended range and mermaiding, while its wider digital ecosystem connects dive sites, Training Centers, buddies and other elements of the diving experience.
The app also includes access to free SSI programmes, including Try Scuba, Try Freediving, Snorkeling and Try Mermaid, alongside SSI’s Blue Oceans environmental initiative.
Building a digital diving identity
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the redesign is the shift from simply storing information to creating a digital identity around the diver.
Certifications, logged dives, achievements, training progression and other diving experiences can increasingly be brought together in one profile.
That approach could make MySSI particularly useful for active divers who accumulate hundreds of dives, multiple certifications and experience across different disciplines and destinations.
For instructors and Training Centers, the same ecosystem can also provide a digital connection with existing and prospective customers. SSI has previously positioned MySSI as a tool through which Centers can promote courses, travel and events, while instructors can use digital tools to manage and verify student activity.
Available now
The redesigned MySSI app is available now for users to download or update.
SSI’s current app listing describes the new version as a completely redesigned experience featuring the new personal area, AI assistant, enhanced Dive Wizard and expanded filtering capabilities.
The development represents another step in SSI’s attempt to place more of the modern diver’s experience inside a single digital platform.
For divers, the immediate appeal may be straightforward: fewer separate systems to manage, faster dive logging and easier access to certifications and training.
But the longer-term significance could be greater.
As dive computers, digital certification, dive-site databases, training, travel and personal dive histories become increasingly connected, applications such as MySSI are moving towards becoming a digital home for the diver rather than simply another dive logbook.
