Emergency teams with the Peel Regional Police Marine Unit responded to a distress signal about 50 meters south of Mississauga’s Ridgetown breakwall near Port Credit Harbour Marina, where they located a capsized boat and successfully pulled all nine occupants from the water.
Emergency crews located all nine individuals clinging to the overturned vessel upon arrival. Severe operational challenges: including high winds and two- to three-meter waves—forced rescuers to abandon efforts to recover the boat. Several passengers sustained minor abrasions.
The Coast Guard was alerted to the incident.
