Texas-based OCD Divers has opened a new retail storefront in Bedford, expanding its presence in the Dallas–Fort Worth diving community and establishing what the company describes as its first full-service retail dive shop.
Located at 3342 Harwood Road in Bedford, the new facility combines retail sales, scuba training, equipment servicing, air fills, and dive travel services under one roof. The shop serves divers throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex and surrounding North Texas communities.
The move marks a significant milestone for OCD Divers, which has built its reputation through scuba training, dive travel, and community-focused diving programs. Social media posts from the company documented the conversion of the Bedford location into a dedicated retail space throughout the spring before opening to the public in May.
According to information published by the company, the Bedford facility is intended to serve as a hub for both new and experienced divers, offering training programs, equipment sales, certification courses, and organized dive travel opportunities. OCD Divers currently promotes a range of domestic and international diving trips alongside its education programs.
A Changing North Texas Dive Market
The opening comes at a time when the North Texas diving industry continues to evolve. Like many specialty retail sectors, local dive operators face challenges ranging from online competition and changing consumer habits to increasing operational costs.
Against that backdrop, OCD Divers’ decision to invest in a dedicated retail location represents a notable vote of confidence in the strength of the regional diving market and the value of face-to-face training, equipment support, and community engagement.
Physical dive shops remain a critical part of the scuba industry, providing services that online retailers cannot easily replicate, including equipment servicing, cylinder fills, hands-on gear advice, and in-person diver education.
Building a Community Hub
Beyond retail sales, the Bedford location is expected to function as a gathering point for local divers, students, and traveling dive groups. Community-focused dive shops often play an important role in introducing new participants to the sport while helping experienced divers connect with training opportunities and organized travel.
The company has indicated that divers are welcome to visit the new facility, meet the team, and learn more about available training and travel programs.
As the diving industry continues to adapt to changing market conditions, the opening of a new brick-and-mortar dive center remains an encouraging development for divers across the Dallas–Fort Worth region.
