DiveInclusive, a UK-based charity focused on increasing diversity and accessibility in scuba diving, has been awarded the SSI Community Engagement Award at this year’s Go Diving Show.
The recognition highlights the charity’s growing impact in introducing children from underrepresented backgrounds to the world of scuba diving through fully funded experiences and structured training pathways.
Founded in Swindon, DiveInclusive has been steadily building a model that removes financial and accessibility barriers, offering young participants the opportunity to progress from their first try dive through to internationally recognised certifications.
Speaking on the award, founder Feranmi Oduwole said:
“This recognition from SSI means a lot—not just for us as an organisation, but for the children and families we support. It reinforces the importance of creating opportunities in diving for those who may never have considered it possible.”
The award was presented during the Go Diving Show, one of the UK’s leading diving events, bringing together divers, organisations, and industry leaders from across the country.
While at the event, the DiveInclusive team also had the opportunity to connect with renowned explorer and broadcaster Steve Backshall, further highlighting the growing visibility of initiatives aimed at broadening participation in the diving community.
As DiveInclusive continues to expand its reach, the charity is actively working with partners and sponsors to increase the number of children it can support, with a long-term vision of making scuba diving more inclusive and representative of the communities it serves.
