According to local reports, the safari vessel Royal Evolution ran aground on a reef off Abu Dabbab earlier today during the first day of its new voyage from Port Ghalib.
The steel-hulled ship is reportedly stuck on “Block 4” and unable to free itself under its own power. We understand that there are currently no signs of leakage and no injuries among passengers or crew. One person from a rescue team is said to have suffered a minor rope injury while helping secure the vessel.
Several dive boats and support vessels are standing by to assist, with efforts focusing on refloating the Royal Evolution during the rising tide between approximately 8 pm and 10 pm.
At this stage, details remain limited and unconfirmed. The Scuba News will update this story as more verified information becomes available.
