A short documentary by Maria Collins & Anna Rak, filmed back in March 2025 about my journey as Saltwater Sean, has been nominated for Best Documentary at the True Colours Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 27th.
“It’s such an honour to have been part of this project, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they take home the award. I know they’ll represent Nova Scotia proudly” – Sean McMullen
About Sean McMullen
Sean is an environmental advocate and content creator who focuses on cleaning waterways and spotlighting the impact of pollution. His journey began in 2020 during the pandemic, when he took up snorkeling and diving and started uncovering trash, bottles, and unique artifacts beneath the surface. Since then, he’s been sharing these discoveries with an ever-growing online community. With a dedicated following on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, Sean uses his platform to promote environmental awareness and encourage others to take part in protecting the planet.
The Scuba News Canada has been following Sean’s cleanup efforts since nearly the beginning. We’ve been proud to feature many of his underwater discovery videos, often accompanied by added stories that highlight the significance of his finds.
“This was one of the first articles we published about Sean and his inspiring work”
