Jill and Jody Smith ventured into the dive shop business in 2013. Jody was already a PADI Professional diver and loved it. He wondered if he could make a living out of sharing this wonderful sport with others.
What an adventure it has been. The hours were long for a small-business owner, and Sam (Jill and Jodi’s son) and Jill barely saw Jody. He worked seven days a week and didn’t get home before Jill or Sam went to bed. Jill worked and drove their son to his activities in the evenings, and they occasionally visited the dive shop.
After more than 11 years of running their dive shop (the previous owner had it for 18 years), Jill and Jodi have decided to retire and pursue another scuba adventure down south. (They want to start a boat chartering business in the Caribbean.) They have enjoyed Adventure Sports in Newmarket and have had many positive experiences teaching and travelling with clients, but they are eager to try something new.
Their hope is that the right person will take what they’ve created and continue to grow and expand it from their own unique perspective. Jill and Jody sincerely hope the next owner succeeds. They both adore their customers and sincerely hope to find the next person who will take care of them.
