Help put the wind in the Maritime Museum of BC’s sails! Their 4th annual “Float the Boat” fundraising campaign is up and running, with the goal of raising $25,000 for Museum operations. The campaign will run from March 1 to April 4, 2024, with the Museum marking milestones by filling the tank below with water to float the boat higher and higher. Updates will be posted all month long, so make sure to follow along!

Over the past year, the Maritime Museum of BC team has worked tirelessly to provide services such as our school programs, marine-themed talks, new exhibits showcasing BC’s maritime heritage and culture, Museum Tots, and collections projects that ensure the collection will be preserved for future generations.

“We’ve connected with many individuals, both locals and visitors, but we can’t do it alone. That’s where you come in,” said Brittany Vis, Executive Director of the Maritime Museum of BC, “To kick off the campaign, I am excited to announce that Andrew Beckerman has joined us with a $750 match donation, which will run for the next 48 hours. Get your donation in early and have it doubled!”

“We have some exciting plans on the horizon here at the Maritime Museum of BC. Your contribution to ‘Float the Boat’ will directly fund initiatives such as opening our exhibits seven days a week, enhancing our programming at this year’s Classic Boat Festival, launching two new community-focused exhibits, touring Dorothy, the newly restored heritage sailing vessel in our collection, and introducing new weekend programming and behind-the-scenes collections tours to make our collections and the history preserved here more accessible for all,” said Vis, “Together, we can ensure that the Maritime Museum of BC continues to flourish and that we can serve our community even better in the coming year.”
