It grew in popularity over time and became a hit on the Discovery Channel. It has been the longest-running cable television programming event in history since 2010. Shark Week is broadcast in over 72 countries and heavily promoted on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. Episodes can also be purchased through services such as Google Play Movies & TV/YouTube, Amazon Video, and iTunes. Some episodes are available for free on the subscription-based services Hulu and Discovery+.
