The Toronto International Boat Show announced it has set dates for its first-ever virtual event, which will take place January 18-24, 2021. Show organizers will be utilizing an online digital platform from Unity, who have experience providing online events within the marine industry. In the press release, organizers stated they had explored and tested over 50 different platforms, but went with Unity as they “developed a virtual show many years ago and utilized it for their own shows first. They are a show producer that understands in-person events; they are a technology company that developed a virtual platform to complement in-person shows; and they’re boaters!”
Exhibitors wishing to reserve a digital space for the event will have a choice of 3 different packages ranging from $500-$5000. There will be traditional listings, as well as extra features and sponsorship opportunities for those looking for exposure beyond the virtual showroom space. Attendees will be able to navigate throughout the ‘event grounds’ and visit digital booths from individual exhibitors. From there, consumers can engage directly with sales staff through the platform, view video and photo content, as well as arrange purchases or place orders for products.
The postponement of the in-person event was announced in September and marked the first time in 62 years the event would not be filling the grounds of Exhibition Place in Toronto. The event is the largest in Canada and draws unique attractions and displays over 1200 boats.
The objectives laid out by show organizers listed several key criteria that focused on retailer functionality and customer interactivity, and information about the Unity digital platform is expected soon.
