Dive Pirates to Explore Grand Cayman with partners Ikelite, Clearly Cayman

After 14 years of successfully taking adaptive scuba divers to Cayman Brac Beach Resort, The Dive Pirates Foundation wants to explore Clearly Cayman’s newly acquired Cobalt Coast as a location for seasoned adaptive divers to continue to enjoy great Caribbean diving as well as Grand Cayman hospitality with a reconnaissance mission planned for April 6-13, 2019.

“Cayman Brac will always be our home for our yearly trip with new adaptive divers, and with our longstanding relationship with Cayman Brac Beach Resort and Clearly Cayman and the number of adaptive divers we have introduced into the mainstream diving community, we would like to consider reunion trips to another property of Clearly Cayman’s, Cobalt Coast,” explained foundation President Sophie Wimberley.

With adaptive scuba divers Bryan Shaner (paraplegia) and Marlene Krpata (amputee)  a group of 16 divers will evaluate the property and diving with two meals and two dives a day with planned outings to explore accessible restaurants, an accessible beach, and tour of the Cayman Turtle Centre.

“We donated our chartered boats on our last day of diving last year in Cayman Brac to assist the Cayman Turtle Centre release new hatchlings to the sea; we loved giving back to the community as well as exposing our divers to a new and rewarding experience, and we hope to continue that relationship into the future,” Wimberley continued.

Celebrating another longtime relationship, Ikelite representative Chase Darnell will be one of the 16 divers on the trip.  Ikelite continues to partner with the Dive Pirates Foundation exposing new divers to new equipment for underwater photography and lighting.

The Dive Pirates Foundation invites all divers to consider joining the crew June 22-29, 2019 for its annual trip to Cayman Brac Beach Resort, celebrating life after injury with past and new recipients, adaptive dive buddies, and divers who make this their annual vacation to join into the pirate fun.
