Leagues Ahead Diving is a new dive centre located in Playa del Ingles, Gran Canaria. It was started by passionate, young and enthusiastic PADI scuba diving instructors who fell in love with the crystal clear water and warm temperatures of Gran Canaria. Both Sophie and James met in Gran Canaria through their love of diving and decided to take the plunge and start their own business.
Can you start a scuba diving business with little money?
Starting a business is always hard and a scuba diving centre has many start up expenses. The owners picked a location in the heart of Playa del Ingles that used to be a pizza factory. By picking this location they saved money on rent, however the location needed a lot of renovation. By completing all the renovation themselves and transforming the pizza factory into a fully functional scuba diving centre they reduced their expenses. In order to afford the equipment and licenses needed they took on other jobs and saved enough capital whilst renovating the shop in the day time. Every part of the shop has been created with passion, love and to their exact specifications. Although it was hard and they experienced many setbacks, they kept working to create their dream dive centre.
Leagues Ahead Diving has officially been open for one year. In that year they have grown as a company and they continue to love every aspect of their job. The company is thriving and they are looking at expanding. Leagues Ahead Diving is an example of how hard work and dedication makes everything possible. Sophie and James keep spreading their love of scuba diving with every customer by showing them the beautiful underwater world of Gran Canaria which can be seen through their 5 star rating on Tripadvisor, Google, Facebook, Yelp and Taucher.
