I just stumbled across an article on the PADI Blog which lists the top 3 dive sites on ScubaEarth based on the number of logged dives.
Here are the top 3 but do you agree that they should be in the top 3? Where is your favourite dive site?
Casino Point, located on Catalina Island, California, USA
Beautiful kelp forests and lots of friendly critters await you at this popular dive site, making this site a must see spot on the Californian coastline. An easily accessible stairway leads diver’s right into the Underwater Park from the walkway and from here it is an easy swim to a number of the sites highlights, including several small wrecks. Numerous logged dives and ScubaEarth user reviews of Casino Point attest to the sites fascinating marine life, “Great Dive – tons of juvie blacksmith and long ribbons of top smelt throughout the park”.
Chumphon Pinnacle, located near Koh Tao, Thailand
Chumphon Pinnacle is located 11km northwest off the island of Koh Tao and is the location to try and spot the illustrious whale shark. The dive site consists of a range of pinnacle’s rising from depths of 15-35m as well as large underwater plateaus which showcase an abundance of hard and soft corals. Rated highly by ScubaEarth users this dive site is not to be missed, with recent logged dives recording sightings of scorpion fish, chevron barracuda, giant grouper, bat fish and boxer shrimp.

This unusual dive site began its life as a working quarry in the early nineteenth century, before being flooded after all quarrying ceased. With the addition of two new attractions in 2000, the UK’s largest inland ship wreck, The Stanegarth, and the Nautilus submarine the intrigue surrounding this dive site grew. Ranging in depth from only a few meters to 36 meters, Stoney Cove provides divers with the opportunity to explore a variety of exciting submerged man made attractions.
