Divetech is a full-service dive operation located at Lighthouse Point on the Northwest Point of Grand Cayman. With excellent shore diving and a fleet of top-notch dive boats and excellent staff, the company has gained a reputation as the go-to place for dive training and technical diving. Divetech has been offering dive services in Grand Cayman since 1994, and its dive instruction programs currently range from novice diver to advanced, technical and rebreather diver. The USS Kittiwake is one of the most popular shipwrecks in the Caribbean, with divers from across the globe traveling to Grand Cayman to explore this iconic site. The Kittiwake started life as a submarine rescue vessel commissioned after World War 2, ill-famed in 1986 for recovering the flight data recorder from the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster. The fascinating story of this 251 ft vessel continued to evolve this month when former US Navy sailor Pete Larson came to reminisce with the Divetech team. The evening of Saturday November 3rd was a very proud moment for Cayman based dive centre owner Jo Mikutowicz as she and her team from Divetech attended the 2018 Festival of Seas Gala. The event that took place in the Grand Old House on Grand Cayman included an award ceremony that recognised the efforts of local businesses and individuals for their marine conservation efforts. This year, Divetech had been nominated for the Ocean Conservation Company of the Year Award. During the month of October, Divetech is focusing its efforts on conservation issues which concern the dive community. In conjunction with Eco Divers and Vivo restaurant, Divetech are hosting a Coral Conservation workshop on Sunday 28thof October 2018, all proceeds from which will go the Eco Divers Coral Reef Foundation. Ocean and reef conservation is a hot topic across the global media. The constant reminder of coral bleaching, lionfish invasion and plastic pollution has put this high on the agenda for all divers.
