Garmin has introduced the Descent X10, a new wrist-worn dive computer designed to make essential underwater information easier to read while offering practical features for recreational divers, dive schools and equipment rental operators.
Announced on 3 November 2026, the new computer features a 2.1-inch high-contrast display, multiple dive modes, smartphone connectivity and a dedicated rental mode. With a suggested US retail price of $349.99, the Descent X10 offers a more accessible entry point into Garmin’s dive computer range.
The launch also introduces interchangeable protective bezel guards, allowing divers and dive centres to customise individual units.
A Larger Display for Essential Dive Information
At the heart of the Descent X10 is an always-on 2.1-inch screen with large text and a backlight, designed to provide clear visibility in different underwater conditions.
Divers can access information including depth, dive time, oxygen-related data and no-decompression limits without navigating through complicated displays.
Garmin has incorporated its NDL Aware depth metrics, which allow divers to see how changing depth can affect their remaining no-decompression time in real time.
This functionality could prove particularly useful for newer recreational divers learning to understand the relationship between depth, time and decompression limits.
The computer supports scuba, apnea and gauge dive modes, with a 10 ATM dive rating.
Designed for Recreational Divers and Training
The Descent X10 includes several features intended to help divers become familiar with its operation before entering the water.
Through the Garmin Dive smartphone application, users can access a device simulator that allows them to practise complete simulated dives and explore the computer’s functions.
After diving, the same application supports automatic dive-log uploads, location tagging and equipment-use tracking.
Divers using compatible Garmin Descent computers can also share settings between devices, providing a more convenient way to configure an additional or backup computer.
Garmin quotes battery life of up to 50 hours in dive mode, with standby operation lasting up to six months.
A Rental Mode for Dive Centres and Schools
One of the more notable additions is the Descent X10’s dedicated rental mode.
Designed for dive schools, dive shops and charter operators, the feature allows computers to be configured according to individual divers’ experience levels and reset between rentals.
For operators managing a substantial inventory of rental computers, simplified setup and reset procedures could reduce preparation time between courses and dive trips.
The interchangeable bezel guards may also help staff distinguish individual devices and organise rental inventory.
Garmin is offering the guards separately in Amp Yellow, Aqua, Purple Iris and Black.
Customisation and Recycled Materials
Beyond its diving functions, the Descent X10 includes several practical design features.
The supplied silicone strap is designed to accommodate a wetsuit, while compatibility with optional Garmin QuickFit bands provides further customisation.
The replaceable plastic bezel guards offer an additional protective layer and allow owners to change the appearance of their device.
Garmin also states that the computer’s housing and bezel are made entirely from recycled ocean-bound plastics.
The use of these materials is a notable consideration for an industry whose activities depend directly on the health of marine environments, although the wider environmental impact of the product has not been independently assessed.
Pricing and Availability
The Garmin Descent X10 was announced on 3 November 2026 with a suggested US retail price of $349.99.
For divers seeking a dedicated computer with a large screen, rechargeable battery and core recreational diving functionality, it represents another option in Garmin’s expanding Descent range.
Its rental management features may be equally interesting to dive centres and training organisations looking to standardise their equipment.
