Take the Wreck Guide Underwater: Jared Bronson Introduces Waterproof Editions of His Dive Books

For generations, divers exploring historic shipwrecks have relied on dive briefings, printed diagrams and their own memories to navigate these fascinating underwater sites. Author Jared Bronson is taking a different approach, developing complete wreck-diving guidebooks that can accompany divers beneath the surface.

With the diving industry preparing for DEMA Show 2026 in New Orleans, Bronson is introducing a growing collection of specially produced waterproof books, including Spiegel Grove: A Diver’s Guide, Duane: A Diver’s Guide and Bibb: A Diver’s Guide.

These are not simply waterproof covers or abbreviated underwater reference cards. Bronson’s Underwater Editions reproduce complete guidebooks in a format designed to be taken on the dive itself.

A Complete Book You Can Take Underwater

The concept builds on Bronson’s work documenting some of the best-known wreck-diving sites in the Florida Keys.

His Spiegel Grove: A Diver’s Guide is available as a 210-page Underwater Edition, produced using waterproof wet-notes-style materials.

Rather than leaving the book on the dive boat, divers can carry the guide underwater, referring to information about the wreck during their exploration.

Bronson has extended the concept to his forthcoming titles. Duane: A Diver’s Guide will have a 274-page Underwater Edition, while Bibb: A Diver’s Guide is being produced in a 148-page waterproof format.

According to Bronson, advance copies of the Duane Underwater Edition will be available at DEMA Show 2026, with the Bibb edition being prepared for its November release.

The books are also offered in more conventional reading formats, including Kindle, paperback and collector’s hardcover editions.

Three Florida Keys Wrecks, Three Dedicated Guides

The collection focuses on three vessels familiar to divers exploring the waters around Key Largo.

    Spiegel Grove

The former US Navy dock landing ship Spiegel Grove has become one of Florida’s most recognisable artificial reefs. Its considerable size makes it a destination that rewards repeated exploration.

Bronson’s original guide provides the foundation for the expanding collection, with the 210-page Underwater Edition offering an unusual way to take detailed reference material directly to the wreck.

    Duane

The former US Coast Guard cutter Duane is another celebrated Florida Keys wreck. The forthcoming guide expands Bronson’s collection with a substantial 274-page waterproof edition.

Advance Underwater Edition copies are expected to be available to visitors attending the DEMA Show.

    Bibb

The former US Coast Guard cutter Bibb completes the three-book collection. Its dedicated guide is being released alongside the Duane title, with a 148-page Underwater Edition also planned.

Meet Jared Bronson at DEMA Show 2026

Bronson will be exhibiting at DEMA Show 2026, taking place from 3 to 6 November at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

Visitors can find him at Booth #3113, where he plans to showcase his diving books, including the waterproof Underwater Editions.

He is also scheduled to participate in Author’s Corner sessions during the show, giving visitors another opportunity to learn about the books and the development of the underwater format.

For dive professionals, retailers and wreck-diving enthusiasts attending DEMA, the collection provides an opportunity to examine how traditionally printed reference material can be adapted for use beneath the surface.

Two New Books and a Museum Launch

Following DEMA, Bronson is planning a special two-book release event at the History of Diving Museum in Islamorada, Florida, on 11 November 2026, coinciding with Veterans Day in the United States.

The event will celebrate the release of Duane: A Diver’s Guide and Bibb: A Diver’s Guide, adding two more titles to a collection documenting historic wrecks in the Florida Keys.

Bronson is also the author of Histories & Mysteries: The Shipwrecks of Key Largo, another work exploring the area’s maritime heritage.

A Different Approach to Wreck-Diving Reference Material

The practical appeal of Bronson’s Underwater Editions lies in bringing detailed written reference material directly into the diving environment.

While waterproof slates, wet-notes and laminated dive plans have long been familiar equipment, a complete waterproof book represents a considerably more extensive resource.

The concept is particularly relevant to divers interested in the structure, layout and history of major wreck sites. It also offers dive professionals another potential resource for planning and interpreting wreck-diving experiences.

As with any underwater reference material, these books supplement rather than replace appropriate training, dive planning, gas management and established wreck-diving safety procedures.

With three dedicated wreck guides, a DEMA appearance and two new releases approaching, Jared Bronson is bringing a distinctive concept to the world of diving books.

Meet Jared Bronson at DEMA Show 2026, Booth #3113, from 3 to 6 November in New Orleans.
