    Beyond the Grate

Beyond the Grate is an award-winning thriller that plunges readers into the shadowy depths of Vortex Spring and the mystery surrounding scuba diver Ben McDaniel’s 2010 disappearance.

In real life, Ben vanished without a trace, leaving his truck parked nearby and unanswered questions lingering in the Florida waters. Neto was one of the divers called out to go into the cave at Vortex Spring to look for Ben’s body and bring it out to his family. Inspired by this true event, Neto crafts a gripping tale of deceit, danger, and the dark corners of human nature.

Joey Simmons, a newly certified diver, is lured into the world of extreme dives far beyond his expertise. Manipulated by a dangerous man, Joey discovers something in the forbidden depths of Vortex Spring he was never meant to find. His discovery sets off a chain of events that forces him to lie to everyone he loves—and fight to keep them safe.

Fast-paced, chilling, and full of heart-stopping moments, Beyond the Grate will leave you questioning where the truth ends and the story begins.

Did Ben die in that cave in August 2010? Did someone find his body, remove it, and dispose of it to avoid bad publicity?

Rob Neto began exploring underwater caves more than 20 years ago. He took the passion he had for these caves and put it into his books. Rob’s first book, Sidemount Diving The Almost Comprehensive Guide, a non-fiction how to book, was published in 2015 and became an instant success. He released a 2nd edition five years later. It has been translated into Dutch, German, and Spanish, with more coming. This book has sold thousands of copies worldwide. Rob began his fiction writing endeavors in 2010 after the disappearance of Ben McDaniel, a scuba diver that was last seen at a popular Florida spring. Rob was one of the divers called to go into the underwater cave and look for the body. The body was never found. This event inspired Rob to begin writing Beyond the Grate, his debut novel. He has since written and published three more books in the Beyond series, with four more planned. Rob has embarked on a new series, Beneath the Jungle of Cozumel. In this series, Rob tells the story of his adventures while exploring the caves beneath the jungle of Cozumel. The first book in the series, Connecting the Crowns, tells the story of his efforts to connect a smaller cave, Dos Coronas, with the longest cave on Cozumel, Cueva Quebrada. He is also working on a separate series, The Hidden Rivers of Florida, in which he tells the story of his adventures exploring Florida caves.
