SJCAM has announced the launch of the SJ30, a new dual-lens action camera designed to bridge the gap between high-end imaging performance and everyday usability. The company says the camera has been built around the concept of a “daily recording camera”, focusing on image quality, battery life, ease of use, and reliable performance in a wide range of environments.
At the centre of the SJ30 is a dual-lens imaging system that combines a 1/2.0-inch daylight sensor with a larger 1/1.8-inch starlight sensor. According to SJCAM, this setup is designed to deliver improved low-light performance compared to many traditional action cameras, helping users capture clearer footage after sunset, in shaded environments, or during early morning and evening adventures.
The camera supports video recording at up to 8K at 20fps and 4K at 60fps, allowing users to capture high-resolution footage with significant detail. SJCAM says the system is intended to perform equally well when filming bright landscapes during the day or urban scenes at night.
For content creators who spend time in front of the camera, the SJ30 features a 2.51-inch flip touchscreen that rotates up to 180 degrees, making self-framing easier. Voice control functionality also enables hands-free operation, a feature aimed at travellers, motorcyclists, cyclists, vloggers, and solo creators who may not always have direct access to camera controls.
Recognising the growing importance of social media content, SJCAM has included native vertical video recording at resolutions up to 5K. This allows footage to be captured in a format optimised for platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook Stories without requiring cropping during editing.
To improve video stability, the SJ30 incorporates SteadyMotion 2.0 electronic image stabilisation powered by a six-axis gyroscope. A built-in 45-degree horizon lock helps maintain level footage when filming on uneven terrain or during movement-intensive activities.
Battery performance is another area where SJCAM hopes the SJ30 will stand out. The camera includes a 2000mAh internal battery and can be paired with an optional power handle. Together, the company claims the setup can provide up to seven hours of continuous recording at 4K resolution, making it suitable for extended travel days, road trips, motorcycle rides, and longer filming sessions.
Audio quality has also received attention. The SJ30 ships with a detachable wind guard and supports the SJCAM M4 wireless microphone system, helping improve voice recordings in windy or high-motion environments. A magnetic quick-release mounting system has been included to simplify setup and allow users to move quickly between different activities and shooting locations.
For divers and watersports enthusiasts, the SJ30 offers waterproof protection to 5 metres straight out of the box with its IPX8-rated body. When paired with the optional underwater housing, the camera can be taken to depths of up to 30 metres, making it suitable for recreational scuba diving, freediving, snorkelling, and underwater exploration. The camera is also designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 60°C.
The launch reflects a broader trend in the action camera market, where manufacturers are increasingly targeting everyday creators rather than focusing exclusively on extreme sports users. SJCAM argues that most consumers want a camera that is straightforward to use while still delivering professional-looking results across a variety of situations. The SJ30 has been designed to meet that demand through a combination of high-resolution video, enhanced low-light capability, long battery life, and simple operation.
Founded in 2010, SJCAM is one of the early brands in the action camera sector and has built its reputation on producing affordable cameras supported by a broad ecosystem of mounts and accessories for outdoor enthusiasts, travellers, and content creators.
