Early this morning, the Red Sea Governorate received a report about the disappearance of the tourist vessel Sea Story during a diving trip. Major General Amr Hanafi, Governor of the Red Sea, immediately raised the state of readiness and coordinated with relevant authorities to respond to the incident.

According the information received locally, the report, received at 5:30 a.m. by the Red Sea Governorate Control Center from the relief operations room, indicated that the vessel issued a distress signal before losing contact. The Sea Story, which departed from Porto Ghalib Port on November 24 and was scheduled to return to Hurghada Marina on November 29, was carrying 31 tourists of various nationalities along with a 14-member crew.

Initial information suggests the vessel is missing and presumed to have sunk in the Sha’ab Sataya area, north of Marsa Alam. Following the report, the Naval Base Control Center mobilized search and rescue efforts, deploying a helicopter and a marine unit from Bernice Harbor to the suspected location.

As of now, search operations are ongoing. The number of survivors or missing individuals has not yet been confirmed. Authorities, including the Control Center and Operations Room, are monitoring the situation continuously to ensure swift action.

Governor Hanafi emphasized that the safety of all individuals is a top priority and assured that updates will be shared as new information becomes available.
