Spencer Baker, was working on the Ambassador Bridge, and fell 43 meters (141 feet) into the Detroit River. This heavily trafficked bridge connects Windsor, Ontario, to Detroit, Michigan. The crew of the J.W. Westcott ship sprang into action right away to locate and rescue the man. He was treated and released from Detroit Receiving Hospital on Thursday, June 13, 2023.
Spencer works for AC Metal in Oldcastle.
Because the incident occurred in US waters, US authorities will lead the investigation, which could last several months. The company was unable to be reached for comment on Thursday (June 13, 2023) afternoon.
