About Alberta Underwater Council
The Alberta Underwater Council is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting underwater sports and activities in the province of Alberta. It is led by an Executive Director, with a volunteer board of directors elected at the annual general meeting (AGM) and elections in the spring.
The AUC was founded in 1960 and has benefited from incredible volunteers who have worked tirelessly for their Scuba Council in every decade thereafter, evolving and changing as needed over the past 60 years! Since the early 1960s, we’ve estimated that over 40 tons of trash has been recovered from Alberta’s lakes and rivers by Alberta’s scuba divers.
