Low season in the Maldives is one of the best times to dive

The travel industry splits the year into high and low season and prices accordingly. So it makes good sense to take advantage of lower prices in low season, especially when the diving is just as good as at other times of the year.

The Maldives is a good choice for year-round diving and the sightings by Constellation Fleet guests throughout this year confirm that diving between May and November, normally a time when flights and liveaboards are a bit cheaper, is one of the best times to travel.

With the south west monsoon and water temperatures at around 28-29°C, diving is inviting at both Ari Atoll and North Male Atoll. Mantas have been prolific, along with the odd whale shark, thanks to the clean oceanic water that comes in from the west. Due to the water temperature being a bit lower, sharks are coming up shallower.

Now until November is a time to think about taking that dream trip but paying less. The weather can be more overcast but the upside is that there are fewer tourists, so less crowded dive sites. And with a choice of three liveaboards, MV Orion, MV Leo and MV Virgo, and prices from £1130 for 7 nights in a twin share cabin, 6 days’ diving, full board, BBQ dinner on an uninhabited island, transfers and separate diving dhoni, now is the time to dive the Maldives. All Constellation Fleet boats offer free Nitrox.
