At the upcoming Asia Dive Expo (ADEX) 2026 in Singapore, adaptive diving will take a prominent role as Diveheart Malaysia and Borneo step forward to showcase the transformative impact of inclusive scuba experiences.
Taking place from April 10 to 12, the event will feature a key presentation on Saturday, April 11, focusing on how adaptive scuba diving is reshaping both tourism and therapy across Asia.
Representing Diveheart Malaysia is Hj. Syed Abd Rahman, a leading advocate for inclusive diving and founder of Kids Scuba. His appearance carries added significance following his recent recognition as a 2026 inductee into the International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame, honouring more than two decades of work in adaptive diving through Zero Gravity.
The presentation, titled “Adaptive Scuba in Asia,” will explore how the underwater environment provides a unique form of therapy. Often described as “gravity-free,” diving offers both physical relief and emotional empowerment for individuals with spinal cord injuries, amputations, and autism.
Beyond therapy, the session will also highlight the growing importance of accessible tourism in the region. As chair of the Accessible Tourism Malaysia committee, Syed is actively encouraging dive destinations across Asia to adopt universal design principles and more inclusive hospitality standards.
With Southeast Asia continuing to position itself as a global diving hub, the inclusion of adaptive diving initiatives signals a broader shift toward making the underwater world accessible to all.
Diveheart’s message remains simple but powerful, imagine the possibilities.
