UK travellers will soon have even more ways to reach Egypt’s famous Red Sea dive destinations. According to Jet2.com, the airline will introduce direct flights to Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh from 2027, expanding its network to include some of the most sought-after winter-sun and diving locations in the world.
The expansion represents Jet2’s return to Egypt after more than a decade, with year-round service connecting multiple UK cities directly to the Red Sea. Flights to Hurghada will operate from six UK airports including Birmingham, East Midlands, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, London Stansted and Manchester. Services to Sharm El Sheikh will depart from the same six airports, offering more than 4,000 inbound seats per week.
A Jet2 spokesperson said the move is part of the company’s commitment to expanding long-haul and winter sun destinations for UK travellers. The new routes will feature package holidays and flight-only options, making it easier than ever to plan a diving trip or family holiday to the Red Sea.
Egypt’s resorts of Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh remain two of the world’s top diving destinations, with easy access to coral gardens, vibrant reefs and world-class wrecks such as the Thistlegorm. With increased flight access and reliable Jet2 service, divers can look forward to smoother travel connections, affordable packages, and a direct link from regional UK airports to the heart of the Red Sea.
For divers, underwater photographers and liveaboard enthusiasts, Jet2’s decision marks a significant step toward making Egypt more accessible throughout the year. Whether it’s the wrecks of Sha’ab Abu Nuhas, the walls of Ras Mohammed, or the deep south’s legendary coral formations, the Red Sea’s extraordinary biodiversity will now be just one direct flight away.
More details on schedules and pricing will become available when bookings open in 2026.
