A 29-year-old Indian national tragically passed away during a scuba diving training session at Jumeirah Beach in Dubai on Friday, while spending the Eid Al Adha holidays with his family, according to a report in Khaleej Times.
The deceased, identified as Issac Paul Olakkengil, was a UAE-based engineer. The incident reportedly occurred during a beginner-level training session at a designated scuba diving area. He was promptly rescued from the water and transported to a nearby hospital but could not be revived.
Family members have confirmed that he suffered a cardiac arrest following breathing difficulties during the session. Arrangements for the repatriation of his remains are currently underway, with the family coordinating with relevant authorities.
In light of the incident, diving professionals have emphasized the importance of choosing accredited diving schools and ensuring that participants are physically fit before engaging in underwater activities. According to a report in Khaleej Times, industry experts have advised learners to check the credentials of instructors and schools, consult medical professionals if underlying health conditions exist, and avoid uncertified or budget dive operators.
