A weekend diving trip turned tragic off the coast of Riviera Beach when a diver died after experiencing a medical emergency underwater, according to a report from CBS12 News.
Authorities from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) confirmed that the incident occurred late Sunday morning near the Ana Cecilia Shipwreck, a popular artificial reef diving site.
While officials have not disclosed the exact nature of the medical emergency, they confirmed the diver encountered a serious health issue while underwater. Emergency responders retrieved the man from the water and transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The diver’s identity has not yet been released, and no additional details surrounding the cause of death have been made public.
