The Shark Trust has opened pre-orders for its 2027 calendar, featuring 12 photographs from its Shark Photographer of the Year competition. There is just one unusual condition: buyers won’t get to see the photographs before placing their orders.
Shark enthusiasts looking for a conservation-themed gift can now pre-order the Shark Trust’s 2027 wall calendar, which brings together images of sharks and rays captured by underwater photographers around the world.
The calendar features 12 photographs selected from the charity’s Shark Photographer of the Year 2026 competition, with a different shark or ray image for each month.
However, the identities of the featured species and the photographs themselves are being kept under wraps until the competition results are announced in November.
Why Are the Calendar Images Being Kept Secret?
The unusual pre-order arrangement is linked to the Shark Trust’s forthcoming Shark Photographer of the Year 2026 awards, which will take place during the charity’s For the Love of Sharks fundraising event in London on Friday, November 27.
The winning entries will be revealed during the ceremony, meaning the charity cannot publish the selected calendar photographs ahead of the announcement.
For anyone placing an advance order, the result is something of a mystery purchase. Buyers know they will receive a collection of shark and ray photographs, but they will have to wait to discover exactly which images have been chosen.
The calendar is intended to celebrate both the diversity of sharks and rays and the work of underwater photographers who document these animals in their natural environments.
A Calendar That Supports Shark Conservation
The Shark Trust is offering the 2027 calendar for £9.99 plus postage, with proceeds supporting the charity’s shark and ray conservation work.
The A4 wall calendar includes 12 underwater photographs and is printed on sustainably sourced paper. It also features pre-drilled hanging holes and UK and Republic of Ireland holidays.
According to the charity’s online shop, pre-ordered calendars are scheduled to begin shipping on Monday, November 30, with the featured images due to be revealed online on November 28.
Those interested can pre-order the Shark Trust 2027 calendar directly from the charity’s online shop.
Shark Photographer of the Year Winners to Be Revealed in London
The photography awards form part of For the Love of Sharks 2026, the Shark Trust’s biennial flagship fundraising event.
This year’s event takes place at the Royal Geographical Society in London and will include a programme exploring the theme Sharks on Our Screens.
Among the confirmed speakers are comedian Ross Noble, who appeared in ITV’s Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters, marine biologist and television presenter Tom “The Blowfish” Hird, and wildlife photographer and filmmaker Kaush Subramaniam.
Alongside the competition results, the evening will highlight the Shark Trust’s conservation work and provide an opportunity for supporters to meet members of the organisation.
For those unable to attend, the calendar offers another way to support the charity while celebrating the underwater photography that helps bring attention to sharks and rays.
The photographs may remain a secret for now, but the calendar is already available to order.
