PADI has announced the launch of PADI PRO+, a new global rewards initiative designed to recognise and reward the work of dive professionals across the industry.
Revealed on 6 May 2026, the new programme expands on PADI’s existing professional member benefits by creating a structured rewards system tied directly to teaching activity, certification milestones, and continued professional development.
According to the organisation, PADI PRO+ Rewards is intended to provide tangible value to the instructors, assistant instructors, and divemasters who play a central role in growing the global diving community.
A New Incentive Structure for PADI Professionals
The programme is open to eligible PADI Professionals worldwide, including:
- PADI Divemasters
- Assistant Instructors
- Open Water Scuba Instructors and higher-level instructors
Under the new system, professionals earn “ProPoints” based on certifications issued while teaching students. As certification milestones are reached, members unlock increasing levels of membership savings and recognition.
PADI says the highest-performing professionals will continue to receive Elite Instructor recognition, while top-certifying members may qualify for free PADI membership renewals.
The structure effectively turns teaching activity into a progression-based rewards system, creating stronger incentives for active instructors while recognising long-term contribution to diver education and industry growth.
Expanding Beyond the Elite Instructor Program
PADI PRO+ builds on the long-running Elite Instructor programme, but broadens recognition opportunities beyond the traditional top-tier instructor awards.
Rather than recognising only the highest certification numbers, the new framework introduces multiple reward levels intended to encourage consistent teaching activity across the wider professional membership base.
For many professionals, particularly independent instructors and working divemasters, the introduction of direct membership savings could provide meaningful financial value in an industry where annual professional fees and ongoing training costs can quickly add up.
PADI also positions the programme as part of its broader strategy to support professional retention, strengthen industry growth, and encourage continued engagement within the diving sector.
PADI Says Pros Are Central to the Industry
In the announcement, Kristin Valette Wirth, Global Brand and Membership Officer for PADI Worldwide, said:
“PADI Pros are at the heart of our mission – teaching, certifying, and inspiring divers around the world.”
She added that the programme is designed to reward dedication, celebrate achievement, and provide meaningful value that supports professional success.
The move comes at a time when many training agencies and dive businesses continue focusing on instructor retention, professional engagement, and long-term growth following years of industry change and fluctuating travel markets.
Certifications Already Counting Toward Rewards
One notable aspect of the launch is that the programme is already active retrospectively for qualifying certifications.
PADI confirmed that certifications issued between 1 September 2025 and 31 August 2026 will count toward rewards applied to 2027 membership dues.
That means many active professionals may already be progressing toward reward thresholds without needing to enrol separately or change their current teaching workflow.
According to PADI, professionals participate automatically by continuing to teach and certify students through standard PADI systems.
Industry Impact
For the wider dive industry, the introduction of a formalised global rewards structure signals an increased focus on professional value and retention.
While instructor recognition programmes are not new, PADI PRO+ appears designed to create a more measurable and scalable incentive system that directly links professional activity with financial rewards and status recognition.
For busy instructors working in high-volume training environments, particularly in destinations with strong tourism-driven certification demand, the programme could become a significant membership benefit.
It may also encourage greater year-round teaching consistency among professionals looking to reach higher reward tiers.
More information about the new programme is available through the PADI Pros’ Site and regional PADI offices.
