Losing Confined Scuba Facilities at our Local Pool

We have had some great news today, and it may be a ray of hope for all scuba dive schools who have use of deep areas in their local swimming pools. Active Nation (the charity that run the sports centre) have now said: “With this additional information to hand we have taken the decision that any proposed re-development at Yarborough Leisure Centre needs to include the retention of the swimming facilities as they are”

This means that we all keep the 3.5M deep pool to dive in; you may not realise that Yarborough has the only deep confined water pool in the Lincolnshire area (next nearest is either Grantham or Nottingham) and is so important for you to get a proper scuba experience in, as well as a necessity for many passionate board divers and their clubs as well as members of the public who love the thrill of board diving.

Active Nation went on to say: “It has been really encouraging to see the amount of enthusiasm and passion displayed during the recent consultation about the pool facilities. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to share their views with us and look forward to working with these individuals and clubs in the future to develop all pool activities to support the sustainability of the centre.”

It is so important that we keep this facility and other similar ones over the years to come.
