Boston Sea Rovers 67th Annual Conference and Expo

October 2 - November 3

Boston Sea Rovers

Join us as the world’s leading divers, underwater photographers, and scientists convene to share news about the latest expeditions and innovations in underwater exploration. The Boston Sea Rovers Clinic & Expo has four components: a film festival, a daytime presentation series, artifact exhibits, and a bustling show floor.

Masters of Ceremonies Dr. Gregory Skomal is a renown marine biologist, underwater photographer, and author. He has written dozens of scientific research papers and appeared in numerous documentaries, including programs for National Geographic, Discovery Channel, ESPN, and more.

The Film Festival features underwater filmmakers who will debut never-before-seen footage to a 700-person audience. The 2021 line-up includes, IMAX filmmaker’s Howard & Michele Hall, SHARKWEEK’S Lauren & Joe Romeiro, noted underwater still photographer and videographers Joel & Jennifer Penner and Rick Simon & Jennifer Sellitti of the August 2021 R.M.S. Lusitania Expedition Team.

Daytime Presenters

Daytime presentations form the backbone of the show. The purpose of these lectures is to educate the public about the underwater world. The best educators, explorers, scientists, divers and speakers in the world will cover more than 40 topics in two days. Each hour from 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, there are three simultaneous lectures. This gives audience members the opportunity to choose which speaker or topic to see based on interests. Wide-raging topics include marine life, shipwreck exploration, and diving exotic destinations. Presenters also explore more technical topics such as dive science, technology, and climate change.

Examples of this year’s presentations include: “Cave Diving for IMAX” by underwater cinematographer Jonathan Bird, “Stormy Seas on the Rise” by Explorer-In-Residence with the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, George Kourounis; “58 Shipwrecks Found in One Location in Greece,” by noted shipwreck diver and SCUBAPRO director John Stella.

S.S. Andrea Doria 65th Anniversary Artifact Exhibit

S.S. Andrea Doria was a luxury Italian liner that sank after a collision with the M.S. Stockholm off the Coast of Nantucket on July 25, 1956. Fifty-one people perished in the disaster. Life Magazine chronicled both the sinking and the first salvage efforts, making the ship’s sinking one of the most famous in recent history. Boston Sea Rovers have a long tradition of diving this iconic wreck. In 2016, a team comprised of many associate sea rovers and other divers discovered and salvaged the ship’s foghorn and had it restored to working order. The foghorn as well as the ship’s bell, helm, compass binnacle, and China will be on display on the Expo floor.

Show Floor

Boston Sea Rovers features more than 40 exhibitors. These include dive travel agencies, equipment companies, jewelry and clothing designers, artists, and more.
