Apart from my editing duties, I also work with young people in schools and decided to try and collaborate the two things I love the most. Overnight my ‘Scuba in Schools’ project was born. An enriching program/activity for young people to get involved in. Something new and different as part of the school day to help create the next generation of young divers.
Getting back in the water. Sometimes, life, the universe, and everything conspire to keep you out of the water. It happens. The trick is making sure you get back in the water safely. Some may have noticed that I’ve been pretty light on posts here for the last year or so; that’s because I’m one of those divers right now. So how am I going to get back in the water? I’ve got a 3 Step Plan to get myself back in the game!
Marc Palay upgraded himself to become a diving instructor but he didn’t stop there. He saw people with handicaps and wanted to bring the joy of diving to them. He took special training to teach the disabled.
People have explored and depended on the oceans of our planet for millennia. During that time the geography of our world has changed radically as coastal regions have flooded and islands have risen up, or been lost beneath the waves.
There are now 24 Adventure Dives in the PADI Adventures in Diving Programme and 13 chapters in the 2016 Adventures in Diving manual. As a result, any Instructor may teach any of these 13 Dives. For the 11 Adventure Dives that are not in the new PADI Adventures in Diving Manual, an instructor must become a Specialty Instructor before running that Dive
