Calling All Shark Fin Campaigners – We Need Your Input

Stop Shark Finning at The Scuba News

If you are a regular reader of The Scuba News you will probably know that I am continually looking for ways to make shark preservation, and in particular, shark finning one of our core campaigns for the next 12 months (and beyond). During a short exchange with Epic Diving on Google+ yesterday evening, an idea was born.

Name and Shame Restaurants Who Serve Shark Fin Soup

I know this is not a new idea and in many local areas lists have been compiled to help local people boycott particular restaurants that serve shark fin soup, and therefore perpetuate the barbaric practice of shark finning.

We want to take this one stage further. We at The Scuba News want to create one giant, worldwide list of every restaurant who help fund the horrific act of shark finning by serving this “not so nutritious”, “not so nice”, “delicacy”. We want to create a list that no restaurant would ever want to be listed on.

Our aim is to help the various shark finning charities and campaigners to raise as much awareness for this very important issue and see if we can move any closer to both banning this barbaric practice and discourage as many restaurants as possible from serving it.

If you are Shark Fin campaigner then firstly, please share this article with your own followers and please feel free to post it on your websites. Secondly, get in touch today and we can walk through the best ways we can work together to raise as much awareness as possible.

If you are not a shark fin campaigner but you do want to help put an end to this barbaric practice then please share this article with as many people as you can and if you know the details of a restaurant near you which serves shark fin soup then please contact us and send the details so we can publish the info on our worldwide “Name and Shame” list.
